Hillingdon House Single storey rear extension and garage conversion granted planning permission
Single storey rear extension, garage conversion into home office utility space and library.

Planning permission has been granted for Hillingdon House.

The client wanted a flexible living space and to better utilise the garage whilst maintaining the secondary access to the garden. The development were to include a library / music room, utility space, home office and have a better connection to the garden.

Our proposal for Hillingdon House was to make the living room and dining space layout to be flexible in that most of the year, the dining area would be located close to the kitchen, however for events, the dining area can be moved towards the garden.

The rear conservatory would be changed to allow a large aperture to allow a sheltered dining experience this is further enhanced by the cantilevered corner with large sliding doors.

By introducing rotating walls between the garage and living space, it creates additional depth within the living room to include the library music room. The walls can be configured to allow the secondary access to the garden without needed access through the house.

The development of the garage has been carefully considered to not change the visual appearance of the house from the street. This has been achieved by reacting a full width dormer for the garage creating a home office and walk-on skylight which helps naturally illuminate the ground floor.
